The Hitchcock County Court Calendar
Nebraska's Multi-Court Case Calendar is the public search channel for Hitchcock County trial-court hearings. Those hearings are handled through JUSTICE. It covers dates only, not full case information. A visitor picks County Court or District Court, selects the Hitchcock option, and searches by current or future date or by last name. That works well for a simple setting question. It is not complete, though. The calendar does not promise every court or every past date. It never overrides a notice the court sent you.
Hitchcock County posts no daily printed calendar. There is no courtroom posting, text reminder program, or local scheduling portal. Confirmation runs through the courthouse, the calendar system, and the two clerk offices. When a date is same-day or disputed, call the proper clerk. Do not read anything into an empty search result.
Hitchcock County Court Calendar Selectors
Every Hitchcock County court calendar search begins with one decision: which court. County Court handles traffic, misdemeanors, infractions, village ordinances, small claims, probate, and juvenile work. District Court takes felony trial matters and major civil cases. It also covers domestic relations. The record after a felony bind-over stays there too. Hitchcock sits in District 11 for that District Court choice. Pick the wrong court. A real case will simply not show up in the docket search.
The state's Multi-Court Case Calendar page presents both selectors side by side. It also shows the search modes and a Reset control.
Once the court type is set, select Hitchcock, pick date or last-name mode, type the value, and run the query. Reset wipes the form for the next search. The public interface publishes no local room assignment system and no universal label for individual settings.
How to Find Your Court Date
Hang onto your citation, summons, or notice. In traffic and misdemeanor matters especially, that paper is the first record of an initial date. Next, check the current or future Hitchcock County court calendar. Also check the latest hearing entry in the case's Register of Actions. A missing date in one place calls for confirmation. It is not a conclusion that the hearing was cancelled. Remember that the calendar keeps no history. The official warning notes that delayed entry happens.
- Read the citation, summons, or notice and note the court type, case number, and written setting.
- Open the calendar, select Hitchcock County Court or District Court, and search by date or a last name of at least two characters.
- Use JUSTICE case information to read the newest hearing, notice, order, or continuance entry in the Register of Actions.
- Use the free courthouse JUSTICE terminal if an online search is unavailable or a case number needs another lookup route.
- Call County Court at 308-334-5383 or District Court at 308-334-5646 to confirm a doubtful setting; visit the clerk counter or send a precise written request if needed.
Both clerk offices sit inside the Hitchcock County Courthouse at 229 East D Street, Trenton. For mail, send your request to P.O. Box 248, Trenton, NE 69044-0248. Call first to confirm the proper office, the payment method, and any restriction on the record you want.
Hitchcock County Court Date Search Modes
Date and last-name searches answer different questions. A date search lists current or future settings across the selected court. A last-name search homes in on one party. The name field requires at least two characters. Its label reads "Name or Date" depending on the mode chosen. Expect no free historical calendar and no citation-number search on the public landing page.
| Search mode | Best use | Official limit |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Check settings scheduled for a current or future day in the chosen court. | Historical dates are not covered. |
| Last name | Locate a current or future setting connected to a party. | At least two characters are required. |
| JUSTICE Register | Read a case’s hearing, notice, continuance, or order entries. | New entries and images can lag, and restrictions apply. |
The Judicial Branch calendar landing page describes the calendar as a statewide service. A blank result still proves nothing about whether a court date exists.
No entry on the calendar? Try the other court level and the other search mode. Then go to the clerk or a courthouse terminal. A citation number still helps with a County Court phone or counter request, even though the public one-time search does not accept it.
Reading a Court Setting
Under Nebraska Rule §1-805, case number, caption, date, time, and location are electronic calendar information that may be public. Not every result shows a judge, courtroom, setting type, or attorney. Read each Hitchcock County entry exactly as it appears. Fill in no missing field by guesswork. When a setting label needs explaining, the Register of Actions and the clerk come next.
| Court and case | The County Court or District Court selection, case number, and caption identify the setting’s file. |
|---|---|
| Date and time | The scheduled current or future event information shown by the calendar or notice. |
| Location | A publicly authorized calendar category; confirm an unclear location with court staff. |
| Setting type | Read the actual label or related register entry; not every calendar result is confirmed to display one. |
| Judge or courtroom | Use only if displayed or supplied by the court; no Hitchcock-wide field format was located. |
Process terms you may see include initial appearance, preliminary hearing, plea, motion hearing, status review, pretrial, trial, sentencing, disposition, and continuance. Whatever the live Hitchcock County record says controls over any generic description.
Hitchcock County Court Calendar Coverage
This calendar covers trial courts on the JUSTICE system, and it looks forward only. Old hearings and past orders sit outside it. That gap matters when you need the story behind an older Hitchcock County court date. The Register of Actions may still hold the historical event. A retained paper or electronic case file may hold the notice or order itself. When nothing surfaces online, ask the clerk about the case. It may live in electronic form, on paper, on microfilm, or in another retained format. It may also have been lawfully destroyed under a state retention schedule.
JUSTICE case information works as the case-detail companion. A one-time party-name search costs $17. It returns up to 30 public records, with a three-day viewing window; new entries may lag by 24 hours. The current Nebraska case-information page also lists a $100 annual subscriber account. It adds a $2 Details charge. Subscribers can filter a calendar result by court, county, case type, year, judge, attorney, judgment date, or case number when a docket entry needs a closer look.
Hitchcock County also offers a free courthouse JUSTICE terminal. State policy allows searching it by party name or case number. The terminal's location, hours, and staff assistance are not published. Ask the clerk where to find it.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A reset or continuance usually shows up as a case event with three parts. The first part is the prior setting. The second is the request or order moving it. The third is the new date. Hitchcock County publishes no code list and no universal "current setting" marker. Read the Register of Actions newest to oldest. A newer signed order or setting entry beats an earlier date, though the calendar itself warns that timely entries can lag.
The public calendar never overrides a signed notice. Confirm any cancellation, moved hearing, or odd setting with the clerk or court staff. The county posts no standing remote-hearing link, permanent remote policy, weather-closure page, or holiday calendar. Get any remote link or closure instruction straight from local court staff.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Move fast after a missed Hitchcock County setting. Read the Register of Actions and any notice. Pinpoint the court and the newest entry. Then call the clerk for the court holding the matter. Traffic, misdemeanor, ordinance, small-claims, probate, and juvenile cases run through County Court. Felony trial, major civil, and district domestic-relations matters run through District Court. Staff can confirm the record or route a request. But legal advice must come from a qualified attorney.
Missed setting. Nebraska misdemeanor guidance warns that failure to appear or pay can lead to a warrant and, in a driving-related matter, a license consequence. Contact County Court at 308-334-5383 or District Court at 308-334-5646 immediately to confirm the record and the next required action.
A blank calendar does not mean a missed date was reset. Trust three things: a later order, a Register of Actions entry, and direct clerk confirmation. That sequence answers a Hitchcock County appearance question.
Hitchcock County Court Contact Chain
One courthouse complex serves Hitchcock County, with two record keepers. Linda K. Smith, County Court Clerk Magistrate, handles County Court case information. Margaret Pollmann, Clerk of the District Court, keeps the District Court docket and filed papers. Skip guessing at an unlisted calendar coordinator; the direct lines work better. County Court answers at 308-334-5383. District Court answers at 308-334-5646. The Judicial Branch's news and media page carries official statewide information. But it does not confirm a Hitchcock calendar.
For a public records request, name the court, case number, record, date range, and how you want delivery. Under Nebraska's Public Records Act, the office must grant access, issue a written denial, or explain and estimate the cost of an extensive request generally within four business days after actual receipt.
